  The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed the officers seen in a viral video escorting Nollywood actress Angela Okorie while she jogged, an incident that sparked widespread public concern. The viral clip, which surfaced recently, showed heavily armed policemen trailing the actress as she exercised outdoors. The unusual sight drew criticism from Nigerians, who questioned the misuse of police resources and the apparent disregard for professionalism. Following the public outcry, the Force Headquarters confirmed that an internal investigation was launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. The inquiry found the officers guilty of misconduct and abuse of duty, leading to their immediate dismissal.  Police authorities reiterated their commitment to upholding discipline within the force and warned officers against unprofessional conduct that undermines public trust.

The presiding Magistrate, Olanrewaju Salami , struck out the case after the withdrawal of the five-count charge filed against her by the police. At the resumed hearing, the prosecution counsel, Oluwabunmi Adeitan , informed the court of “new developments” necessitating the withdrawal of the case. She tendered a formal application for discontinuance, which the court accepted. Hyacinth Alia, has dissolved the state executive council, retaining only the office of Chief of Staff, which will now be occupied by former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Moses Atagher. Atagher, a seasoned administrator and former acting Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank, was announced as the new Chief of Staff with immediate effect at the close of the 12th executive council meeting of the state .
