Afrobeats star, Asake has admitted his father, Fatai Odunsi, to a specialist hospital in Ikoyi, where Chinese experts are currently attending to him, a source has confirmed.

When Sunday Scoop contacted one of Odunsi’s neighbours, who had earlier led newsmen to Asake’s childhood home in Iga Idunganran, Isale Eko, during a visit last Saturday, she confirmed that Odunsi was receiving medical care at the unnamed facility.

Speaking in the local Isale Eko parlance (now translated into English), she stated, “Call me again around 6:30 pm. By then, I should have gone to their house, so I would be able to give you more information on what you asked.”

When she was contacted again around 7 pm, she confirmed the news, saying, “I have confirmed from his (Odunsi’s) wife that he has been admitted to a specialist hospital in Ikoyi where Chinese experts are currently attending to him.”

Also speaking to Sunday Scoop on condition of anonymity, a reliable source in the artist’s management described the entire saga as an oversight.

The source confirmed that, to the best of his knowledge, Asake has started fulfilling his financial commitments to both his father and his daughter, Zeenat, but claimed to not know whether Asake would be resuming his relationship with Zeenat’s mother or provide any form of financial support for her.

“To the best of my knowledge, he has begun fulfilling the promises he made and that is why there is now calm. I have no knowledge of what has or will happen to the baby mama; what I know is what I have told you”, the source said.

Recall that while updating the public on the situation of things, Odunsi, in a viral video disclosed that following their reconciliation, Asake committed to purchasing a new house for him and cover his medical expenses.

He also confirmed that real estate agents were actively searching for a suitable property. He added that, Asake also agreed to take full responsibility for his 11-year-old daughter, Zeenat.

However, he was silent on any discussions about Asake resuming a relationship with Zeenat’s mother or providing support for her.

Narrating the incident, he said, Tope Alabi and her husband, Soji visited him during the preparation for their wedding, and begged him to borrow his car for their official ride but he disappointed them on the deal day by ignoring their calls despite the initial agreement.

Expressing regret, he stated that although he had sought forgiveness from the couple, he still feels guilty.

“What hurt me most and still hurting me is what I did to my younger sister, singer Tope Alabi. She informed me about her wedding, and I just bought a car ‘V boot’ at that time. It was when I did ‘Olalade Mr Money’ movie and before I collected the plate number, I had already inscribed Ololade Mr Money 1 on the car.

“So, I went to Ibadan in Oyo State to show one of my films, and my car was stolen from me by robbers but it was later recovered the following day after the news has circulated on radio stations and other platforms. When I returned from Ibadan, Tope Alabi came to my house in Abeokuta and said big brother please we want to use your car for our wedding and I said no problem.

“But after she left, I had a second thought that what if armed robbers snatched the car from them. I stopped picking her calls a day before the wedding. I didn’t give her the car. I disappointed Tope Alabi. But she now has countless luxury cars, some of which I cannot afford. So, up till today I’m still in pain that I offended Tope Alabi. I once sought her forgiveness during one of our professional meetings in Ogun State. My greatest regret is disappointing Tope Alabi”.

Nigerian singer, Naira Marley has testified before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, in the Coroner’s inquest seeking to discover the root cause of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad’s death.

Naira Marley joined the proceedings virtually on Friday to tell the court everything he knows about his colleague’s passing and, in the process, wash his hands off all allegations being made against him.

Naira Marley started by telling the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi that he signed late Mohbad on his record label, Marlian Records to produce 4 albums but until the artiste left, the 4 albums were not produced owing to constant disagreements between the artiste and his manager, Opere Babatunde.

The singer further denied threatening or molesting the late Mohbad, pointing to a police report which exonerated him of those offences.

Marley said that the allegations that he molested Mohbad existed only in people’s imaginations.

When asked about the viral video, made by the late Mohbad where he stated that Naira Marley and the entire Marlian crew should be held responsible if anything happens to him, the witness testified that Mohbad and his parents subsequently apologised for that video which was made while the artiste was under the influence of drugs.

Marley insisted that there were no disputes or disagreements between him and the late Mohbad.

He also denied having a hand in Mohbad’s death, claiming that the last time he saw the artiste was a year before his passing and that he was not even in the country at the time Mohbad died.

A second witness, the lawyer to the late Mohbad, Oluwasanmi Falade, faulted Naira Marley for saying there was no dispute between him and the late Mohbad.

The lawyer confirmed to the coroner that there was indeed a dispute between Marlian Records and his client over the payment of royalties.

The lawyer said at Mohbad’s insistence, he wrote several times to Marlian Records over the issue but never got any response.

He, however, said the issue has since become a subject of litigation before the Federal High Court.

Falade also testified that the late Mohbad was attacked at Lekki Beach by music promoter, Sam Larry and following his advice, the late singer had reported the incident at the Force Headquarters which had unsuccessfully tried to arrest Sam Larry twice.

After listening to the testimonies, Magistrate Shotobi summoned Sam Larry to testify before the Coroners’ court at the next adjourned date.

The Coroner also directed parties in the inquest to confirm the address of late Mohbad’s driver so witness summons can also be sent to him to appear before the coroner to testify.

The coroner further directed the pathologist who conducted an independent autopsy on the late Mohbad to forward a copy of his findings to the coroners’ court and the same should also be forwarded to the Chief Coroner, before the next adjourned date.

The Coroner adjourned to April 11 to take the testimony of Sam Larry.
